The Chicago Transit Authority provides over 500 million public transportation rides to Chicago and 40 surrounding suburbs each year.

Pace is the suburban bus division of the Regional Transportation Authority. The six counties that Pace serves are Cook, Lake, Will, Kane, McHenry and DuPage. Some of Pace's buses also go to Chicago and Indiana.
