Chicago Architecture Foundation
Back
It is no great feat to see why Chicago is famous for its architecture. The city skyline and eclectic mix of fascinating architectural designs from both the old and modern eras make for a permanent public exhibit. The Chicago Architectural Foundation is committed to improving public knowledge and interest in the city's architectural history.
The first step includes visiting the free exhibits on display at the ArchiCenter. After that, it is time to get a little more hands on. Sign up for a lecture series or symposium to really get a grasp on how Chicago came to be the city it is today. If the classroom setting is not your thing, experience a tour of the remarkable Loop architecture by either boat or foot along the Chicago River. Trained volunteer docents will lead personable and unique tours by foot, bicycle, boat, and bus, rain or shine.
If youve enjoyed their city tours, The Chicago Architecture Foundation also offers tours to 55 various neighborhoods (both in the city and suburbs). For more information about existing tours and prices, visit http://www.architecture.org.
