How is green beer made?

Americans have a long tradition of drinking green beer on St. Patrick's Day. But if you want green beer at home, how can you do it? All you need to do is add food coloring. You'll find that the lighter the beer, the easier it is to color. Lighter beer takes less coloring, whereas darker beer takes much more coloring.

You should also think about what color to use. Remember first grade art class? Blue and yellow make green. So if you have a light, yellow beer, put some blue food coloring in there, and you're good to go. Although green food coloring will also work, in our experience blue will work best. This is why all of these bars offer light domestic drafts in green.

However, you won't find any of this green beer in Ireland. So if you're a purist, just grab yourself a Guinness. Sláinte!
