City-sponsored revitalization programs have worked to improve the infrastructure, schools, education and economy of Woodlawn, despite it once being the site of Chicago’s most prolific gang. To draw people back into this neighborhood, many homes in the area have been built with a price tag of about $300,000. The median home price is $140,000. Certain areas have also become dry, forcing liquor stores to close and crime to decrease.

Woodlawn also hopes to improve education by raising test scores and helping students to progress better. These improvements show that the area is poised to bring itself back to prosperity.

Woodlawn is bounded by 60th Street, Midway Plaisance Park, 67th Street, Cottage Grove, Stoney Island Avenue and Jackson Park.
