The Chicago neighborhood of Rogers Park is the northern doorway to Chicago. Housing is affordable (but on the rise) and beaches abundant due to its border on Lake Michigan. Much apartment rehabbing is going on and these renovations are raising interest in real estate and in commerce. The community has responded to this interest with approximately 100 new units of affordable housing being developed each year, on average, for the last 15 years, plus a variety of new business and shopping districts.

East Rogers Park is home to Loyola University's Lake Shore Campus. West Rogers Park is bordered by Kedzie, Howard, Ridge and Peterson and is dominated by single-family homes. Some fine restaurants dot the streets and one can find interesting theater and resale shops. Rogers Park is a diverse community and truly is a melting pot, with census reports as recently as 2001 reporting an almost equal blend of white, black and hispanic residents.

The CTA's Howard-Dan Ryan line stops at Howard, Jarvis, Morse and Loyola. The Metra commuter train stops Ravenswood Avenue.
