A scan few blocks in size, the Chicago neighborhood of Old Town is located south of the Lincoln Park area and just east of the Gold Coast, from Division to Armitage. Wicker Park is located just west of this area and the gallery district blends into Old Town, offering rich artistic cultural experiences to its residents. With so many of Chicago's most popular neighborhoods surrounding it, it should come as no surprise that this area is a very popular destination for those with the means to live there. Rents run lower than the Gold Coast, but close proximity to the Loop leaves it a prime destination for the affluent. The Old Town Triangle area was designated a Chicago Landmark District in 1977. There are several major hospitals in the neighborhood and many shops, coffee houses, and restaurants line the streets, offering an incredibly diverse selection of food and wares.

Ironically, this Chicago mecca of development and prosperity also encompasses the infamous Chicago Housing Authority projects known as Cabrini Green, which has all but vanished in the wake of the overwhelming growth, development and prosperity of the last decade.

The Purple/Brown line runs through Old Town with stops at Sedgewick and Armitage. The Red line stops at North/Clybourn and Clark/Division. CTA buses run along most of its major streets.
