Edison Park

Edison Park is named after Thomas Edison, the famed inventor. As a tribute to Mr. Edison, Edison Park was long ago given the nickname of “Electric Suburb” as it was one of the first Chicago neighborhoods to have electric streetlights in place. While Edison Park has a high median income, property values have not always kept pace. The median home price was $234,000 only a couple of years ago, making this neighborhood an excellent value. There is a large selection of housing choices including new construction single-family homes, condos, bungalows and two and three flats. Edison Park is bordered by several “O” streets – Oliphant, Oshkosh, Olmstead and the Northwest Highway.
One of Edison Park’s most notable features is its restaurant row. People from all over Chicagoland converge on Edison Park’s restaurants for delicious meals in an attractive setting. Edison Park itself hosts a field house and a playground. Several educational and social programs are offered at the park year-round for adults and children.
The CTA Blue Line runs through the neighborhood and Metra has a train station in Edison Park, too. The Kennedy Expressway is easily accessible.
