Dunning is a large neighborhood comprised of several smaller ones, including Belmont Heights, Belmont Terrace, Irving Woods, Schorsch Village and The Villa. The area was, until recently, home to an older population, but families have already begun to move into Dunning’s well-maintained apartments and flats. Despite the changes, the neighborhood’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere has remained the same. Property values range from the millions to the low hundred thousands with affordable options for almost everyone. The area is growing in popularity and as a result, housing prices have increased as much as $10,000 recently.

Dunning is nestled between Cumberland Avenue, Belmont Avenue, Austin Avenue, Forest Preserve Road, Montrose Boulevard and Irving Park Road. Two important places of interest in Dunning include Portage Park and Wright College. Portage Park is located in Dunning. The park is very beautiful, even for a Chicago city park, and features basketball and tennis courts, ball fields, playgrounds, swimming, walking trails, field houses and also hosts several youth programs for the neighborhood children. Wright College is one of the city’s public colleges, opened in 1934, and offers a wide variety of courses for all ages. There are over 15,000 students enrolled at Wright College, adding vitality to the neighborhood.
