Located on the Chicago's Southwest Side, the neighborhood of Archer Heights is primarily occupied by brick bungalows and ranches. Home to a rich variety of cafes, bakeries, delis, food boutiques and culturally-oriented nightclubs, and host to a significant Polish population, the residents of this uniquely Chicago neighborhood are what many people visualize when they visualize Chicago; working-class, no-nonsense, friendly blue-collar folks.

The Chicago neighborhood of Brighton Park is a quiet neighborhood of many families, just east of Archer Park.

Gage Park also has many brick bungalows which, like Archer Heights and Brighton Park, are well-maintained.

Archer Avenue began centuries ago as a Native American travel path. It has grown into a major thoroughfare through this area of Chicago, and is home to quite a few interesting locations including the Baby Doll Polka Club (6102 S Central Ave.), catering to old favorite, polka classics.

As Archer is one of the oldest streets in Chicago, it comes with the world-famous ghost story of Resurrection Mary, the phantom hitchhiker who asks to be driven to her home, Resurrection Cemetery.

Nearby McKinley Park (between Western and Ashland) is an asset to the community with its 69 acres of scenic park and lagoon.

The El stops at Pulaski, Kedzie and Western. The Stevenson Expressway runs through the northwest corner.
